If you and your canine companion or feline furriend lead active lives, I have the perfect product for you!!!!
Soooo many uses for a collapsible pet dish come to mind.
We recently acquired ours and we used it as a water dish for our sick cat Tiger, because it was tall, and she didn’t need to further strain herself trying to get a drink from a dish too close to the floor. It worked perfectly.
My dog, on the other hand, unfortunately, LOVES long walks. He gets nightly walks, but he can easily cover a mile, and if given the chance maybe two. So he now carries his dish on his collar, while I carry OUR bottle of water. We actually share a bottle now!!!!!
These collapsible pet dishes are great for dogs who get to jog around lakes or cities, or go for long walks. Backpacking, hiking and camping are excellent activities where a collapsible pet dish would be ideal. Service dogs, dogs on show circuits, or those participating in agility competitions would benefit from these, as well. Traveling in a vehicle or rather, stopping at those rest stops is a perfect use for them. Off to the dog park? Another perfect use!
I find these to be a rather valuable, yet unique invention. They are made of nylon, so they’re lightweight. Your dog can carry it himself, because they clamp onto a collar just like a leash does. They clamp to training or chain collars, as well as permanent collars. Once they’re collapsed, 2 Velcro straps and hooks keep it closed.
Ours stands 3 inches tall by 6 inches wide, and collapses down to 1 1/2 inches.
Two drawbacks I found are A) If you have a small dog, the dish may drag on the ground, so luckily, they also clamp onto human belt loops, or on a key ring or Karabiner Clip; and B) 4 velcro straps and hooks would be better, and would make it even thinner when not in use.
These dishes come in handy for cats too. They are, after all PET dishes. Several of our facebook cat furriends are therapy cats at care centers, compete in shows, travel by car, RV and plane, go camping, to the beach, walk on a leash or with a harness, or stay at kitty motels while their owners are away, and I’m sure every one of them would love to have and benefit from their own travel pet dish.
Our dish is made by SONY, that electronics company, and when I googled “SONY collapsible pet dish”, nothing came up. So I’m guessing this was a promotional item offered to employees. I have researched other brands and prices.
Several other companies make collapsible or travel pet dishes, and the prices all range from $3-$15.
PetSmart carries a variety from $3-10, in store or online.
Jardin makes a dish with a sturdy base for $14.95, one of the better, heftier brands. Coleman (as in camping gear) also makes a dish with a sturdy looking base for $7.50.
There are several colors available and a variety of manufacturers and sizes, to choose from.
My canine companion, Bowzer, and my feline furriend, Tiger rate our collapsible pet dish 4 paws up.
