058Lamb Lung Dog Treats

I have had dogs most of my life, and I have never heard of Lamb Lungs being used for dog treats. In fact, the concept seems rather gross to me!! And they don’t smell good. Who would have guessed?

My bag sat around for 3 weeks, as my dog, Bowzer, and every dog on our street turned their noses up at them. Finally, the day I found a dog who actually liked them, and was ready to hand over the bag of remaining lamb lungs, Bowzer decided he liked them. I guess lamb lungs have to hang around the house awhile, aging a little longer, to get really stinky, before your dog will take a liking to them!! It worked for me.

I don’t know why the initial introduction got a nose turned up, or why later Bowzer decided he should widen his taste bud range. But he now eats them like dog biscuits.

A few different companies manufacture lamb lungs, and Jones Chews advertises they are made in America, with lambs from the U. S. Other companies didn’t specify where their lambs are from, so I thought this info was valuable, as a consumer. Our bag was a Jones Chews product.

I found the best deals to be online, where they sell for as low as $7-$10 (on sale) for small bags, and up to $125 for a 10 pound container. 5.5 lbs was $57. A few companies offered free shipping with orders over $69. I would recommend buying a small bag the first time, that way if your dog doesn’t like them, and you end up giving them away, you’re not out too much money.

Also, IF your dog turns its’ nose up the first time you offer lamb lungs, reseal the package, hang onto it, and try again a few weeks later like I did, and just maybe your dog will come around. As a last resort, tell your dog you found a neighbor dog who likes them, so you’re on your way to give the rest of the bag to that dog, and then offer your dog a lamb lung, one last time.

Baci, a Bolognese (Italian breed), and Bowzer, a Pit Bull/Chow mix, give this product 4 paws up each!!! One of my cats Dodger, also enjoyed a few bites.

A mastiff, a golden retriever, and a mutt all turned their noses up.
